This day camp opportunity for ages 7-14 is designed to encourage campers to reach beyond and create art that is unique to them while being inspired by their surrounding environment. By doing so, campers feel empowered to be creative and expressive, as well as develop an appreciation for nature.
Located on a beautiful 25 acre homestead in New Haven, SmArt camp provides a naturalistic environment created to inspire. Campers will have plenty of room as a part of the creative process. Our instructors work together, providing activities and instruction to foster and encourage individual creativity and expression in a safe environment. Campers will finish camp with memorable friendships and stories, an appreciation for nature and the arts, and a sense of accomplishment and confidence.
SmArt Sampler (AM Session): Campers in this session will enjoy a variety of experiences in drawing, tie dye, and arts & crafts. Subject matter and compositions will be camper-led and can include influences by the natural surroundings. Campers are also encouraged to bring a journal should inspiration lead them to write poetry or short stories to accompany their work and experiences.
SmArt Dance (PM Session): Campers will be exposed to multiple styles of dance including ballet, jazz, hip hop, and musical theater. Experiences will be in the basics of each style, providing campers with a general understanding of creative movement.
SmArt Music (PM Session): Campers will experience the basics of songwriting and music recording, working together to create an original composition. Students currently playing an instrument are encouraged to bring theirs to camp to maximize their experience. Students are also encouraged to bring an external drive (such as a USB) for retaining a copy of the finished work.
